Don’t Be Selfish

Let’s face it, every now and then we all like to be a little selfish.  I am no different, I have my moments.  But recently I was confronted by a comment that seemed so selfish to me that I had to say something about it.  It wasn’t the comment itself per say that offended me so much as the insight into the mindset of the individual saying it.  And really, this is not so much against this one trainer as much as it is against this mind set as a whole.  Watch the video below to see what I have to say.

Don’t Be Selfish

  • If I am doing my own workout, I cannot focus on you
  • You need autonomy to learn how to work on your own
  • You need someone correcting you not just showing you
  • You pay a lot to learn, not to watch me workout

Before you go, drop me a comment and tell me what you think.  Do you want someone teaching you and correcting you? Or do you want someone doing the workout with you?

Later.

One of the main reasons why I have chosen to work out with Justin and everyone at Elite is because I know they are watching my workouts. I know that if I do something wrong, they will stop me and show me the right way so that I do not get hurt. When I do things right, they also let me know it. The high fives, “good jobs” have always been a great motivator! Justin and the Elite Team are doing a fantastic job helping us to focus on what we need. Thanks!

True dat!!! LOL : ) Yes, just like anything else of this type, the instructor should be instructing, not “doing it along with” the pupil. Wouldn’t it be a tad bit odd if a teacher or professor stopped teaching the class and correcting their work, but instead handed out the assignment then sat down with the class and started working on the assignment as the students are? Nobody would think that is normal; they shouldn’t think it would be normal during exercise instruction, either.
