IT’S MY FAVORITE PART OF THE DAY!!
A couple of years ago Justin approached me while on the treadmill asking when I was going to start letting him train me. I will be honest and say that I felt a bit of obligation considering that this was about the 5th time he had mentioned it. =) Turns out that it was one of the best decisions I have ever made!
I have worked out since high school. Getting started was never my problem, boredom was. I was ALWAYS looking for the next class to take or new DVD to buy. Since working with Justin, I cannot recall one day ever being bored or not wanting to go back for more!
The workouts are very enjoyable and you work at your own pace which makes it very accommodating to people of all fitness levels! My favorite part of the boot camp class is the encouragement I get from Justin to do what I never thought possible!
My dad has Multiple Sclerosis and the majority of his life is spent doctoring in Grand Forks or sleeping in his recliner. Last year I decided to train for my first half – marathon in honor of him. When my workouts are feeling a bit challenging, I think of him and his inability to even walk around the block. With him as my inspiration and the strength I’ve gained through Justin’s training I did it and I even beat my goal time!
Since running last May I have been attending Justin’s boot camp class 4 to 5 times per week. I feel stronger and more confident than I ever have! The energy, strength, and friendships I have developed is what keeps me coming back for more! That 1 hour of “me Time” every morning is my favorite part of my day! IT’s what makes me the best mom, fiancé, friend, and hairstylist I can be!

I Lost 6lbs and 11.5 inches in 4 weeks!!
After a period of recovery from chemo-therapy and radiation, I felt well enough to begin training with Justin in the fall of 2010. Justin had his work cut out for him – I had very little upper body strength, limited mobility combined with some pain.
Justin was great. He was always very conscientious of my limitations. One day, I was doing a side plank and started to cry. Justin kind of panicked and said “What’s wrong?” They were tears of joy. That was the first time in a year and a half that I was able to hold my weight on that arm pain free. Six months later, I can hold a Kettlebell above my head with a straight arm. Another first after surgery.
I used to go the chiropractor once a week and now I go once every 3 months.
I truly believe that without Justin’s knowledge and guidance, I would not have had total mobility, the strength and confidence that I have. It has been a total mind and body transformation!

I LOST 30LBS IN 6 WEEKS!!
I have been overweight my whole life. I was always the non-athletic pudgy kid who was picked last to be on a team during grade school P.E. class. I started the “diet” fads already in high school – I have tried diet pills of various sorts, weight watchers, starving myself. Basically anything that would promise a quick fix with the least amount of effort. Each result was the same – a quick 10 lb loss followed by a gain by twice that much. Somewhere in there I just accepted that I was just meant to be “big”.
My weight escalated to almost 320 lbs at my heaviest before I realized I needed to take action again by the time I was out of college.
I met Justin in August of 2010. I had never even pondered a trainer, as I didn’t think “working out” was for me. At that time my idea of working out was walking a half hour on a treadmill every couple weeks. I figured it was worth a shot. I think the first thing I told him was – “I have a challenge for you!”
I remember my first few workouts – it was all I could do to get through them and had no idea what I was doing… I was clueless.
I was sore, but it was a good sore – the kind that you know you accomplished something. I was still focused on losing weight, and I did – I think I lost 13 lbs in the first month. But shortly thereafter, I started convincing myself that things were going so well that I could binge on anything I wanted and still lose weight. I would get done with a workout and go home and order Dominos and polish off a cheese pizza, and get frustrated when the scale started going the other way. Of course I would tell Justin that I was following his guidelines & tips – but I was only fooling myself.
I spent most of Nov & Dec back in motels, and Justin kept encouraging me through calls & emails to stay focused & continue to follow the plan & get back to the workouts. Those calls & emails were exactly what I needed. I was looking forward to getting back home and did a lot of “soul searching” while I was away. Something slowly started to change mentally & I came to a lot of realizations. I will be turning 30 in the next year, both my parents have diabetes, both sides of my family have a history of heart disease, my dad had a heart attack several years ago, his dad died of a heart attack at an early age – I needed to change the direction I was going & very soon.
In January everything just seemed to click. I finally figured out that I have all the tools in front of me to make this work, the motivation to do it, support from everyone at Elite Performance, and now the right mind set to do it. I remember early on Justin telling me to not get caught up in the numbers. I managed to change my way of thinking from “Losing Weight” to “Getting Healthy!”
Elite Performance has helped me set realistic goals for myself. The classes are an absolute blast and I can’t get enough of them. Just when I think I know what we’ll be doing, I’ll walk into a whole new routine. I was so apprehensive at first about “keeping up” with others that are on a whole different fitness level, but I don’t have to be. Each class is set up that you do exactly what you are able to do individually, and everyone is supportive of each other & their goals.
In a very short period of time, I can already see some major differences in myself. Simple things like walking up a flight of stairs without getting winded, more energy throughout the day, sleeping better at night, a noticeable change in muscle tone. And to top it all off, successfully losing 25 lbs in January!!!
This is only the first step for me in my health journey, but I know I will succeed and look forward to having Elite Performance & Fitness guiding the way.

I AM MORE CONDIFDENT
I started working with Justin primarily to get into the best shape possible for the 2010 Winter Olympics. By the time I landed in Vancouver I felt confident in my physical ability to be able to do all the things I needed to do, to play my best. And I did! I am now in the best shape I have ever been and it feels great. I have been most impressed with Justin because of the dedication he has given to me. He has been very supportive and flexible with my personal schedule, always making extra time for me so we can work-out together. I have felt like he has made me a priority, which important when trying to achieve personal goals. I have always appreciated his patience and thorough explanation when he is teaching me new concepts, theories or simply proper techniques behind an exercise. I have found he has pushed me harder than any other trainer I have worked with before. By working with Justin I now know how to properly put myself through challenging workouts on my own, which is something I never felt confident doing before until now.
I highly recommend Justin if you are ready to make yourself a priority and reach the goals you’ve always wanted to achieve!

I LOST 60LBS IN 12 MONTHS
I have been working with Justin Cox as my trainer for almost two years. When I started, I was completely out of shape, and had a hard time doing even five minutes on the treadmill. Since I have worked with him, I have lost sixty pounds while also regaining a good deal of muscle mass. I can now do an hour of mid-high intensity cardio and recover from it fairly quickly. He has lead me through a variety of different training techniques to develop strength, agility and flexibility. My work with him has been a valuable investment of both time and money. At my last physical, my physician was amazed by the changes in all my lab tests: everything that was “out-of-wack” was well within the healthy range. I had been in danger of developing diabetes and heart issues, but now I am very healthy. I have never stuck with this type of consistent exercise program outside of team athletics, and it has paid off. I recommend him whole-heartedly as a trainer. He knows just how far to push my individual limits and how to build in the right amount of recovery so that I meet my goals. I have been athletic in my past (football, Rugby, and I earned a second degree blackbelt in Aikido; however, at 40 years of age, I can’t remember feeling healthier, and I see continual change in my appearance as my body responds to the training.

I ACHIEVED MORE THAN I THOUGHT I COULD
I have been interested in exercise for most of my life, however, it is only since working out with a personal trainer that I have been able to exercise injury-free and realize many of my goals. These goals have included completing a marathon in 2007, and going on a 50 mile, week long backpacking trip in 2008, and passing the HKC in 2009.
From the beginning, Justin listened to what I wanted to accomplish and tailored a program to help me meet my goals. His programs have been innovative, fun, and challenging. Justin’s expertise and support has allowed me to work out more intensely than I ever had before (or even thought possible). I have been encouraged to do things I truly did not believe I could do, and I achieved them; and in the process have lost weight, gained fitness, and been motivated to continue to set new goals for myself.
Justin has answered my innumerable questions with patience and humor. If he did not know or was unsure of the answer; by the next session, he would have an answer for me. Justin stays current with the latest information in his field, and implements it as appropriate.
Working out with Justin has changed my life, and I would encourage anyone who is seriously interested in getting fit to hire Justin as their personal trainer. He is one of the best

STRONGER THEN WHEN I WAS IN COLLEGE
I have been training with Justin for about 1 1/2 years now, and I love it. I never had a personal trainer before, however, I was a D1 swimmer and we did have a very structured weight lifting program. I was strong when I swam (about 20 years ago), but, I am stronger now. I meet with Justin anywhere from 2-3 times per week. Justin has a program coordinated that works on my strength and conditioning as well as my endurance. The strength portion has challenged me. I now can do a pull-up and many chin ups. I can dead lift and press more weight than I thought I could, and I can visibly see toned muscles. I also have aerobic conditioning that is helping me in the pool with swimming and I can maintain good conditioning for running without having to run every day. Justin encourages me to work hard, holds me accountable for reaching goals, and listens to me when I have questions. If you have never tried a personal trainer I would highly recommend giving it a try. Make sure you have specific goals you want to accomplish so you have something to keep you motivated to workout. It is nice to go to the gym and have Justin ready with my workout rather than me staring at the machines wondering what to do.

FINALLY, NO INJURIES
I have been active and interested in health and fitness my whole life. Yet I have probably learned more about sound conditioning and strength training techniques in the past year from Justin than I had gained in the 38 years before hand, and my fitness level reflects it. Justin has a knack for reducing complex concepts to simple terms, for knowing when to make an individual push harder and knowing when to back off.
I have made very steady and rewarding gains in the year I’ve worked with Justin, and equally impressive, I have done it without injury. I wish I had hired a personal trainer 20 years ago! Personal instruction is far more valuable than just reading magazines or books. Work with Justin if you want to get in better shape than you ever thought possible.

I CAN FINALLY DO PULL UPS
I decided to meet with Justin and try it out a couple of times. I never stopped working out with him once I started. I hate missing class and look forward to being at the gym. I know I will get a good workout in, have fun, and feel great afterwards. Justin has a very intuitive feel for how much you are able to do that day. He listens and watches carefully to make sure your workout is the right one for you. He makes sure you are in charge of when you have had enough that day.
In the last year, I have seen remarkable gains in my overall strength. I can now press more than I ever thought I could and can do pull-ups… on my own… I’m a girl! I can do pull-ups! Ok, I can’t do a lot of them, but it feels great to be able to pick up my son and hold him up so he can touch the ceiling. When he says, “Again Mommy”, I can do it. Since I am pushing 40 years old, I am very proud of that.

I RARELY HAVE TO SEE THE CHIROPRACTOR
I really enjoy that Justin provides structure and continuity to his programs. The workouts feel like they progress from one to the next in a natural progression. Because Justin emphasizes proper technique with each exercise, it has been more than 8 weeks since I have had to visit my chiropractor. I couldn’t be happier.
UPDATE: I have been to the chiropractor 1 time in 3 months!
