Cheating on your diet

The last time we talked I talked about Leptin and how it is your master metabolism hormone.  I also told you how typical Calorie restricted dieting will lower Leptin levels and your metabolism.  This means you are burning less Calories than you should be every day.

During that discussion I mentioned the need of a high Calorie day about once per week to keep your Leptin levels high.  This way your metabolism stays high and you burn more Calories every day.

That is the physiological benefit of a “cheat day.”  Today I have a video for you about the psychological benefits of a cheat day.  Watch the video below to find out  more. Continue reading

Fat Loss Hormones: Leptin

In my last blog, I talked about Insulin and how to control it.  I also told you that today I would tell you about the most important fat loss hormone.  Today I deliver.  Today I am going to tell you about Leptin.

Why is Leptin the most important fat loss hormone?  Because it is the hormone that directly controls your Metabolism.  The higher your metabolism, the more fat you are burning every hour of every day.  Check out the video below to find out about Leptin and how it effects your body. 5 Strategies For Minimizing Stress

Are You Stressed Out?

Before I get into today’s blog post I have to throw you a quick reminder. This is the second week of the School Supply Fundraiser. Last week was great and we got a lot of donations. This week is going to be bigger. I am looking to get a lot more donations plus ramp up for the big workout this weekend.

I am wrapping up the last touches on a free e-book bonus for everyone who registers. I am going to give out a free report on nutrition. If you have been to any of my workshops or read my e-books before, you know this is going to be packed with useful information that you can apply right now. If you haven’t registered yet, go to the School Supply Fundraiser page here on my blog and sign up. As soon as I finish it up, I will email it directly to you. Alright, back to today’s post on stress.

It has been a while since I talked about stress. The last time I talked about stress was in reference to exercise and the stress of exercise, and the need for a recovery week every few weeks. But today I want to bring it a little closer to home. With school just around the corner, last minute summer vacations, and everything that needs to be done, it can get quite overwhelming. Keeping The Objective The Objective

Many times in the health and fitness world we get too focused on the result. Well that is probably true for everything we do in life.

I was sitting in my living room the other day and I started thinking about Dan John. Dan is a great coach who spits out pearls of wisdom so casually that you almost don’t even notice them when you hear them. But he has one quote that was really sticking in my head. Continue reading

Just Do It

“Nike” and “Just Do It” are property of Nike Inc.

What are the best sets and reps for fat loss? Is it sets of 15? Or is it sets of 7? What about weight? Should I use light weights or heavy weights? And how many exercises should I use? What is the exact right formula – and then what about gaining mass? That is a whole new set of questions and formulas and theories. Continue reading

Are You Guilty

So I was out having lunch the other day with Jenn. While we were sitting at the restaurant we noticed another one of our members. We will call her Nancy. Nancy is not her real name of course but that is the one we will use today. Anyways Nancy and Jenn and I had a really great talk while we were waiting for our food to come. But then Nancy said something that really caught my attention.

Nancy said she felt guilty about eating all this food. What? Nancy felt guilty eating her lunch because it wasn’t part of the meal plan her that I had developed. Continue reading

Coconut Oil: Where is the research?

I am a big believer  in coconut oil.  I eat either coconut oil or coconut mana every single day.  It tastes great, it is a more stable cooking oil than Olive oil, and has a better fat profile in both quantity and quality than any other oil I have come across.

Yet even though there are mountains of anecdotal evidence to its numerous health claims, oppontents still cry out “Where is the research?”  Now I am all for evidence based research but I don’t need a research paper to tell me that getting run over by a truck is going to hurt. Continue reading
